Outcomes:
Delegate must have complete overview of the Freightliner Techniques.
Must be able to explain the Freightliner’s Exterior & Interior Operational Techniques.
To carry out a Demonstration Drive and apply the Freightliner Driving Technique.

Brief Description:
Conduct Pre – Trip Inspection of Relevant Technical Components.
Outcomes :
Learner to understand the Operation of Relevant Technical Components and Consequences of Lack of early Detection of Defects & Possible Failures including Coupling and Uncoupling .

Economic Vehicle Operation
Brief Description:
The delegate will have an overview of the Freightliner, focussing on the Smartshift and driving features of the vehicle and be able to demonstrate how to drive the Freightliner Economically.
Outcomes:
To make evident the correct way to manipulate the vehicle to obtain the most efficient fuel consumption.
To possess sufficient knowledge of the vehicle and why this is important.
Exercise the correct way to do pre-trip inspection.
To know and understand fuel efficiency of the vehicle and load dynamics.
Establish awareness of the factors of load distribution, weather conditions and safety measures regarding economical efficient operation of vehicle/combination.
Explain and demonstrate the correct way to operate the retardation systems.
To conduct practical exercises applying new skills

Brief Description:

Conduct theoretical training regarding K53 and defensive driving skills

Advanced Driver Development
Brief Description:
Conduct assessment on each delegate to determine ability and shortcomings.
Conduct a driving demonstration
Outcomes:
To practically apply the theoretical skills acquired.
Theoretical instruction to explain correct procedures regarding: Coupling/uncoupling, Turbo Charger Operations, Retardation Systems, Load Distribution, Fuel Consumption, Tyre Care, Mountain Driving, Weather Conditions, Accident Procedures, Pre-trip Inspection and Maintenance.

Valid PrDP and correct drivers license for class of vehicle.
The Learner must have attended the Freightliner Techniques Course and must be Competent in the Pre – Trip Inspection , Economical Vehicle Operation & Freightliner Defensive Driving with K 53 Courses.

Convey Dangerous Goods
Brief Description:
Theoretical training on Unit Standard number _____ will be conducted and assessment will be conducted to determine competency against this unit standard. A certificate will be issued legally to convey dangerous goods by road as required by the National Road Traffic Act. This certificate is Valid for a period of ONE YEAR from date of issue.
Duration of Course:
1 Day
Minimum Requirements:
Valid PrDP and correct drivers license for class of vehicle.
Each driver must be in possession of a Valid Medical Certificate before attending this course as prescribed by the National Road Traffic Act No. 63 of 1993 .
