Beyond supporting specific projects in the four key focus areas, the Mercedes-Benz Group of Companies in South Africa also actively supports staff engagement initiatives, which are aimed at encouraging employees, individual business units as well as organised groups such as the Business Women’s and Transformation forums to share their skills and time on a voluntary basis with beneficiaries.
Innovative and colourful collection drives for clothing, books, stationery, household equipment and educational equipment take place on a regular basis, employees are invited to visit projects and interact with beneficiaries, and selected commemorative days are celebrated in partnership with CSI projects.

Habitat for Humanity
Since 2009, employees from the Mercedes-Benz Group of Companies in South Africa in collaboration with Habitat for Humanity have extended a helping hand towards building houses for deserving recipients in the underdeveloped formal settlement of Orange Farm.
The initiative is held over a week, to ensure that each employee receives an opportunity to participate in the process of building a house and sharing in the honour of actively contributing to the community.
Through the work of Habitat for Humanity, thousands of low-income families have found new hope in the form of affordable housing. Community groups and others have joined together to successfully tackle a significant social problem – decent housing for all.
Today, Habitat for Humanity has built more than 300,000 houses, sheltering more than 1.5 million people in more than 3,000 communities worldwide.
