Check trailer hitch and replace if necessary – A-Class (177 platform)
Recall Campaign Number: 3191017
Daimler AG has determined that the locking pin for locking/releasing the retractable trailer hitch may break in your vehicle. The locking of the trailer hitch would thus no longer be ensured. A complete detachment of the trailer from the trailer hitch cannot be excluded; this would increase the risk of an accident. If the locking pin breaks before the respective use of the trailer hitch, your attention would be drawn to the fault profile by it not being possible to lock the trailer hitch.
In this case, if the locking pin should break during vehicle operation with trailer load, the retraction mechanism of the trailer hitch could fully release. A proper attachment of the trailer would then no longer be ensured. As a result, a complete detachment of the trailer from the trailer hitch cannot be excluded; this would increase the risk of accident.
As our top priority is the safety of our customers, Daimler AG, via its Mercedes-Benz service partners, will therefore check the trailer hitch in your vehicle as a precautionary measure and replace if necessary, as part of a recall campaign.
The campaign has been launched locally and affected customers are in the process of being contacted to inform them about the campaign. 1 vehicle is affected in the South African market.
