Sandown Motor Holdings (Pty) Ltd commenced trading in May 1982, when it was awarded the Mercedes-Benz franchise for Sandton. It now operates in both the Western and Northern Gauteng.
Mercedes-Benz South Africa, a subsidiary of Daimler AG, holds 62.6% share in the company. The company’s CEO, Roy McAllister, holds 12.39% of the shares while the remaining 25.01% is owned by True Class Consortium, a black empowerment shareholder. Mercedes-Benz South Africa set a new benchmark for transformation in the automotive industry when it concluded the deal with True Class Consortium in 2006.
